Do you need a multi-vitamin supplement?
Does your family get sufficient nutrients from food alone? It is a commonly held belief that by carefully choosing which foods you eat, you can get all the nutrients you need.
However, consider that new research comes out every day showing a benefit from a natural substance. Even if you carefully selected every food of every meal you eat, it would be impossible to get each of these nutrients. Furthermore, what if you are traveling for one day, or one month, and do not have access to all these foods?
Take lutein for example. To get the recommended daily intake of 500 mcg, you would have to eat at least two servings of spinach, kale or collard greens--every day. What if you are working late? What if you are just too busy to go to the grocery store and have run out of your supply of salad? What if you are traveling, and cannot find any place that sells your greens?
Multiply any of these situations by all the substances your body needs every day for maximum health and protection. It is impractical, overwhelming, and extremely inconvenient to get your nutritional needs met solely from food.
